What Is Summa Teq?
“Summa”—meaning the sum of all knowledge in a field
“Teq.”—Technique or method
The massage methods covered in this course are the most unique ones out of all that Summa Teq. has to offer. Licensed massage therapists or physical therapists can learn how to become superhero therapists by learning Summa Teq.
The humor and light instruction in this course should be seen as the foundation of the training that a licensed therapist can learn through in-person training in Summa Teq. You can eventually learn the skills to read a person with one touch of your hand, with or without the sight of your eyes. These handouts and videos will get you on the path to a more dynamic way of deep tissue and sports massage.
Creator Bio
Angela Landeros began her career as a licensed therapeutic riding instructor. She spent her time teaching individuals of all ages to use horses as their therapy tools and for recreation.
Massaging humans was not in her plans—at all. She was initially licensed as an equine body worker and used that skill to understand more about the biomechanics of the horse in relation to its rider.
After moving from her home town of San Diego to Los Angeles, her new path began when a co-worker persuaded her to try massaging out her pain. This made little sense to Angela; instead of four legs, this client only had two and absolutely no fur.
Within minutes, it was clear to Angela that her subject did not need to have four legs and that muscles are muscles. It was not hard to learn how to feel tension and know how to release it, because horses had taught her to listen not for words but with her body and intuition.
After that experience, she decided to focus on helping the two-legged variety of clientele and started massage school “for people.”
Dinosaur Wrestling
Leg and hip work can require a lot of combined techniques, so get your muscles ready and concentrate on when your moves will complement each other. Just like croc wrestling the arm, it’s time to get tough and wrestle the dino! It will include all the lower body moves.

I have always pushed my body to the extremes, from being an NCAA Wrestling All-American, National Champion Powerlifter, Professional Strongman, to now being a top level bodybuilder. Taking my body to these levels has done a lot of damage to my joints and connective tissue. I have been to dozens of massage therapists over the years to help fix the years of damage, but it wasn’t until I found Summa Teq. that I really started seeing progress. Summa Teq., created by Angela Landeros, is now a key component in my training program to help me not only fix the damage already done, but to prevent injury in the future. Her knowledge and techniques set her apart from her competition and establish her as a true master of her art.

Ticking Time Bomb
Using pressure points or finger pressure on any typically sensitive area will flood the brain with information which will distract it from its original goal of moving away from your pressure. This method can even stop a muscle cramp from continuing. Beware of your timing, as explained in the Ticking Time Bomb illustration, because you can also cause a cramp in a muscle by being too persistent with pressure.

Angela is the best! As a farrier, I need all my muscles to be working and feeling great. She has magic hands. I’m always amazed with how great I feel the next day! I’ll come in complaining about one part of my body, and she will pinpoint and explain how a different area of the body is causing that pain. Everything is connected, and I appreciate that she takes the time to find where the problem is coming from. In addition to all of that, she will give you stretches, foam rolling positions, and tips on how you can maintain what she has fixed.

Jackknife
This technique consists of bending of joints like knees and elbows into angles that create massive tension and put muscles into a stretch while working over them. When the muscle fibers are stretched and you apply direct pressure or use cross fiber methods, it is less painful, so creating angles like this will be very useful. We as therapists know there are a lot of moves in deep tissue that are painful, but we can try to make them the least painful that we can. This method can also be applied to the legs, as most Summa Teq. methods are transferable between similar moving joints, like the hip and shoulder which are both ball and socket joints.

After twelve years of professional wrestling, body work with Angela is the most critical component to my weekly routine to stay healthy and perform at the highest level. Before meeting her, my career was at a halt as I dealt with chronic pain from a hip labral tear and multiple herniated discs in my lower back. Not only did she get me out of pain and moving at my best, but she has constantly been able to prevent problems before they start by understanding exactly what work my body needs on a weekly basis. My weekly sessions with her are truly a life and career saver!

Between a Rock and a Hard Place:
Pushing a muscle against a neighboring bone with your elbow, forearm, or hand so there is no escaping the pressure. In this illustration, I am using my own thumb to create the hard place. Use this method when a muscle is moving away from you too much and you can’t get adequate pressure.
