Welcome and Introductions
About the Creator
Angela Landeros began her career as a licensed therapeutic riding instructor. She spent her time teaching individuals of all ages to use horses as their therapy tools and for recreation.
Massaging humans was not in her plans—at all. She was initially licensed as an equine body worker and used that skill to understand more about the biomechanics of the horse in relation to its rider.
After moving from her home town of San Diego to Los Angeles, her new path began when a co-worker persuaded her to try massaging out her pain. This made little sense to Angela; instead of four legs, this client only had two and absolutely no fur.
Within minutes, it was clear to Angela that her subject did not need to have four legs and that muscles are muscles. It was not hard to learn how to feel tension and know how to release it, because horses had taught her to listen not for words but with her body and intuition.
After that experience, she decided to focus on helping the two-legged variety of clientele and started massage school “for people.”
Not long after starting her new career in massage, Angela was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which caused an action tremor in her left arm; she could not walk very far without developing a severe limp.
This did not stop her, and instead convinced her that health was number one and that massaging actually helped her body and brain. A journey in healing through diet and lifestyle encouraged her to continue helping others by writing her first book, An Autoimmune Food Journey, a 30 Day Food Log for Those Who Want to Feel Amazing Every Day, which was originally published in early 2018.
Client: “I don’t know how you do this job with
your type of disability.”
Me: “You help me every step of the way because
you’re what holds me up—literally I lean
on you most of the time.”
Based on her experiences Angela has come to believe that healing is physical, mental and spiritual. Her own healing journey, combined with her desire to help others, gave Angela the encouragement to start teaching her knowledge and skills to other talented massage therapists and physical therapists.
To that end, she developed the Summa Teq. massage method and wrote the book ‘Adventures In Massage, Become A Superhero Massage Therapist!’
